October's BirchBox Review!

28
Hey Everybody!

Apologies for not having this up sooner I've been super busy! I actually got my box 2 weeks ago there was a week between my GlossyBox and my BirchBox.

The theme of this months box was "beauty buzz" basically celeb's favourite products. The box itself was your normal brown box with the white border. It came with the usual draw-string pouch with some orange this time (I love the little pouches I keep them all haha) The newest change we see this month is instead of the usual mini magazine we got "keep sake cards" (I LOVE THEM) personally I like them so much better than the magazine. In the keep sake cards you get: apps to download,skincare secrets,info on your products and some social features. I really hope birchbox keeps the keep sake cards.

The five products I received this month:

LIFESTYLE EXTRA - The Chia Co Shots.
BEAUTY EXTRA - Egyptian Magic.

Laura Mercier - Foundation Primer(14.7ml):
The first product in my box is foundation primer by Laura Mercier. I hadn't heard of Laura Mercier or her products so this was a completely new brand for me. Also I hadn't tried foundation primer before (DUN,DUN,DUNNNN) I am however now a huge fan of foundation primer I cannot believe I hadn't been introduced to it before now,but I'm glad this was my first primer because it was FABULOUS! The sample size was great, the packaging was perfect for ease of use, and basically I can't complain about one thing were this products involved. I applied my moisturiser, then this primer and then my foundation. My make-up looked flawless and photo finish ready all day couldn't believe the results & improvement it made to my make-up. Needless to say I will be re-purchasing this when it runs out big thumbs up from me, thank you birchbox! The full size product costs £28 from House Of Fraser

Dr.Brandt - Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant(7.5ml):
The second product in my box was a new brand and new product to try. The sample size was good and the packaging was great. I've used loads of skin exfoliants, but never any microdermabrasion ones. Reportedly Madonna is said to use this product which keeps to the theme for this months box. I was looking forward to trying this so I applied this to my face and then rinsed and my skin felt amazing and brightened. I actually have very good skin no acne etc (not boasting haha) so it never done anything dramatic to my skin. It was great to be able to try such a high end product. I can't see me purchasing this product in the future mainly because in my opinion it's extremely pricey and my everyday facial scrub/wash doe's just as good a job and it's inexpensive. The full size product costs £64 from Cult Beauty

KMS California - Hair Play Makeover Spray(75ml):
New brand and product again on my third product this month. First things first it was a generous sample size woohoo! I must admit I wasn't very wowed or anything by this product because after all, it's basically just expensive dry shampoo? don't you think? The product smelt marvellous and basically done exactly what it said on the tin. It absorbed the oil,thickened and refreshed my hair. Will I be purchasing this product? Honestly? No. Because I use "Batiste Tropical Dry Shampoo" I personally am very loyal to Batiste products and to be fair they're affordable and do the exact same if not better than this product. Just my opinion though! The full size product costs £15 from Birch Box

TheBalm Cosmetics - Stainiac(1.2ml):
The first brand I knew in this months box was "TheBalm Cosmentics". I am new to the whole lip&cheek tint trend I received a lip&cheek tint in my glossybox this month but I know this brand is a higher end one compared to glossybox's. Sadly it wasn't a full size product which I was a tiny bit saddened about, but nevertheless the product was great. The colour suits the autumn vibe, and will suit every skin tone. It lasts hours even when put to the test of food and drink. I never tried it out on my cheeks because as I've said previously I'm too set in my ways with baked/powder blusher. I was very happy with the applicator compared to the GlossyBox one and the packaging. Also I love how affordable it is also. I was contented with this product and might purchase it in the future once I try it out more. The full size product costs £10 from www.birchbox.co.uk

Dr.Lipp - Nipple Balm For Lips(3ml):
I was disheartened when I seen this in my box this month because I have already received this sample in last months GlossyBox (It's not birchbox's fault) I guess it makes sense to have this in my box because we are entering the cold winter season and every bodies lips now begin to get cracked and sore. The sample size is disappointingly small, the product itself is terribly thick and gloopy (ughh) but as I have said previously this little baby is unbelievably versatile (Quite like vaseline) It can be used for: lips,burns,abrasions,cuticles,eczema,dry skin patches it can even be used to shape your eyebrows... AMAZING! I'm happy for another sample but I'd say save yourself a little bit of money and just buy Vaseline. The full size product costs £11.50 from www.birchbox.co.uk

The Chia Co Shots(8g):
This was October's lifestyle extra. I chickened out to try these so I can't really review them and I can't really state my opinion on them. They just weren't for me (Sorry!) They claim to contain Omega 3, Dietary Fibre, Protein and Antioxidants. It also says you can make a Chia Green smoothie with them,mix them raw into breakfast cereals or anything really! That's really cool if your into that sort of thing. The full size product costs £4.79 for a pack of 10, from www.birchbox.co.uk

Egyptian Magic(3ml x3):
This was this month's beauty extra. This is only my second box from Birchbox so I'm unsure if they have ever done a "beauty extra" because last month I was only given the "lifestyle extra" so this month I had loads of goodies than I expected! I was given three, 3ml sachets. The packaging I hated because you really can't get all of the product out of sachets! Egyptian Magic is a multi-purpose healing skin cream made with six natural ingredients: Olive oil,Bee wax,Honey,Bee pollen,Royal jelly and Propolis extract. I tried the cream out earlier today for the first time and I hated it. It was like putting greasy oil over myself it felt and smelt and looked horrible. Hours later and my skin is as shiny as ever. NEVER AGAIN! This was not a hit for me at all.The full size product costs £29 from www.birchbox.co.uk

My Overall Opinion Of This Month's Box:
I loved every single product in last months box, this months box I was only slightly disappointed. The lack of full size products in this months box saddened me on contrast to last months 2 full size products. I cannot complain however because they totally made it up to me by giving me not just 5 products but 7! I am so pleased with as always the high end products it always gives me chance to try products that are out of my price range/budget. I liked that they kept to the theme all the way through this months box. My heart sank a little when I seen some products other people got in there boxes like the Akane mask cocoon nocturne, eye mask,eyelash curlers and especially the Ultradex teeth whitening toothpaste! Ah well that's whole part of the surprise I suppose. I adore Birchbox so much it's my favourite beauty subscription box and it's like Christmas every month I cannot wait for next month as they hinted we will be receiving another product from Laura Mercier!

Drop me a comment below & let me know what your thoughts are and also what you got in this months BirchBox! XOXO
