REVIEW: Urban Decay Naked Basics!

28

Hey Everyone!

I decided recently that I needed a new neutral eyeshadow palette for everyday use that wasn't too glitz and glam. (Or that's what I told myself anyways.) It was a toss up between the original Naked palette and the Naked Basics palette as they are pretty similar but after reading reviews I finally decided on the basics palette. I picked it up for £22 from Debenhams and I was really excited to try it out. I've had it for a few weeks now and I am head over heels. I am addicted and I have yet to find an Urban Decay product that I don't obsess over haha!

This palette is perfect, it's six shades are beautiful and exactly what a nude, neutral, matte lover like myself is looking for. First impressions... YES  the shades might look a little boring, BUT YOU NEED THIS. It does look pretty tiny compared to the other Naked palettes which turns out to be very handy. It may be small but it still has six FULL SIZE eye shadows that pack a punch. There are five matte shades and one semi-matte shade with a touch of satin (Venus). I don't know if it's just me but I love when eye shadows have really cool names? The colours are super wearable with anything and are beyond easy to work with (Which is great for beginners.) You can create any look with this palette and I've had plenty of fun experimenting. I personally love all the shades but don't use "foxy" that often. My two favourites are "Venus" and "Naked 2."

Above are swatches on my arm with flash, and some basic smoky eye looks. I used Venus,Naked 2 and faint to create this look. The camera doesn't do it any justice. (sorry!)

Overall Opinion:

I ADORE this palette it's definitely my new favourite. While playing about with it I found loads of different uses for it as well as eyeshadow for example:

'Venus' - can also be used as a highlighter. I use it in the inner corner of my eyes, brow bones, cupids bow etc.

'Naked 2' & 'Faint" can also be used to contour and fill in eyebrows. I used both to contour my nose area. I've also used both to fill in my eyebrows.

'Crave' can be used as an eyeliner. I use crave with a small angled brush to do my winged eyeliner looks, as I find it SO much easier this way and it's so effective. Great alternative to eyeliner and lasts all day!

I am so pleased with how versatile it is, it's unbelievable value for money in my opinion. I like the aspect of having the colours you need to create a full everyday eyeshadow look all in the one place. These are the shades we all find ourselves running out of first and using with every other eyeshadow we own. The shades are very pigmented so you don't need to apply much and with every Urban Decay palette they last ages and I use them everyday. I find that this is also great when your in a rush because the colours are so subtle you can blend a couple together really quickly and it still looks fabulous. I'm all about my nude shades and if your like me I highly recommend this palette. It's a must have for every ones eyeshadow collection it doesn't disappoint!

If you have been on the fence about buying this, I hope this review helps? Do you love Urban Decay as much as I do, what's your favourite product I'd love to hear? As always Thanks for reading!
